A number of much-heralded – although also much delayed – port projects should finally go ahead in Latin America later this year. The second container terminal project at Manaus, in Brazil, where a tender has been twice postponed, is to be offered as a 25-year concession.
Santos Brasil and APM Terminals are already declared as bidders.
In El Salvador, the national ports authority (Cepa) is scheduled to issue a tender for the $183m La Union container terminal in August, while in Ecuador, a 25-year container terminal concession requiring investment of $300m has just been issued.
A slightly revised tender for the Terminal 2 container handling facility at Valparaiso was issued in April, while in Honduras, Cortés container terminal, needing investment of $500m, should also be tendered later this year.
