Manfred Lebmeier, Senior Environmental Advisory – Port Energy Solution, Hamburg Port Authority joins GreenPort Congress lineup!

Manfred Lebmeier

The Port of Hamburg is positioning itself as a hub for green hydrogen and its derivatives, driving the energy transition in the maritime and transport sectors. By developing a multi-energy import infrastructure and modern fueling systems for various modes of transport, the port plays a key role in defossilising industry and logistics. This comprehensive approach spans the entire fuel value chain—from import and bunkering to usage and transport—laying the foundation for a climate-neutral future.

To support this ambition, Hamburg is dedicating specific areas within the port to the development and handling of green hydrogen and green molecules, ensuring it remains at the forefront of sustainable innovation.

A central figure in these efforts is Manfred Lebmeier, who has been with the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) since 2013. As part of the environmental and sustainability department, he focuses on initiatives such as onshore power and the EU’s Green Deal, particularly the Fit for 55 package. Lebmeier also contributes to international sustainability efforts through his involvement in organizations like ESPO and IAPH and previously served as administrator for the Environmental Ship Index (ESI) at IAPH.

Manfred Lebmeier will be presenting on the Hamburg Sustainable Energy Hub during the Harbouring the Future: Infrastructure for a Stronger Port Eco-System session.
