Day 1 of the GreenPort Congress 2024 was packed with insightful sessions and discussions.
Here are some of the key highlights:
- Keynote Address: The day began with a keynote on “Building a Sustainable Future: Priorities & Challenges for Meeting Net-Zero,” moderated by Chris Wooldridge of EcoPorts. The panel asked whether ports ‘can really achieve Net Zero by 2050?’
- Electrification of Ports: Experts from HAROPA port, IGUS, PowerCon and EOPSA covered OPS, providing a much anticipated update on recent case studies as well as a look at the challenges faced when implementing OPS systems.
- Cruise Investments: Covering sustainability investments in mediterranean ports, alongside the challenges and state of the art solutions. Ports of Bergen, Sardinian Sea and Tangier City provided excellent insight into the latest work being done to tackle the environmental, social and economic impacts of cruise operations.
- Cruise Infrastructure: From the latest initiatives to the importance of data, our experts covered the latest projects driving sustainability in cruise. Including Port of Malta’s shore to ship electricity, able to power multiple cruise liners simultaneously.
- Networking Opportunities: Day 1 concluded with a fantastic conference dinner organised by HAROPA Port. The evening provided the perfect opportunity for GreenPort Congress & Cruise attendees to network in an informal setting.
It was a comprehensive start to the congress, setting the stage for the following days of discussions and tours.
