Join European Maritime Safety Agency, Ecoslops, Port of Dover and ECO-OIL at GreenPort Congress & Cruise.

Day two of GreenPort Congress & Cruise 2023 will include a session Waste Management and Circular Economy. Leading professionals from a range of Government Agencies, Ports and other organisations will share their insights.

Moderated by Heidi Neilson, Head of Environment, Port of Oslo the session will start with a presentation from the European Maritime Safety Agency. Brian Elliot, Senior Project Officer in Unit Sustainability, Department Sustainability and Technical Assistance will deliver an in-depth presentation on Waste Management on a Technical Level.

Vincent Favier, CEO, Ecoslops will be discussing generating hydrocarbon products from maritime waste: Ecoslops’ experience on profitable circular economy within ports. Ecoslops is an innovative cleantech that brings oil into circular economy. The solutions have been developed to help ports manage their waste in a more efficient and environmentally friendly way. The technology allows the recycling of oil residues from ships, as well as land-based hydrocarbon residues (yc used lub oil) that are often considered hazardous and difficult to dispose of.

Ben Crake, Environment Advisor, Port of Dover (PoD) will focus on Target Zero: Zero Waste to Landfill at the Port of Dover. PoD has maintained 100% landfill avoidance for a number of years (Excluding category 1 waste), and in 2022 the Port introduced a continuous improvement target of zero waste to landfill, in order to ensure this is maintained. The Port provides skips for all major recycling streams for cruise and cargo vessels, and can accommodate any ad-hoc request with enough notice. In 2023 the Port released its sustainable procurement policy this lays the foundations for transitioning to a circular economy at the Port.

EcoGreen Power is the first sustainable fuel oil certified by ISCC in the world. Circular Economy and decarbonization are principles well illustrated by Eco-Oil, when they recycle the wastes to produce the first sustainable fuel oil for the industry certified by ISCC with 99% less GEE emission when compared with the fossil alternative. Nuno Matos, Managing Director of ECO-OIL, will be presenting on their port reception facility based in Portugal.
