Dave MacIntyre

Dave MacIntyre is the Australasian-based contributor to GreenPort. He is an award-winning journalist specialising in maritime, having been an analytical columnist with the New Zealand Shipping Gazette for many years, as well as writing for numerous international maritime and freight publications. Originally from the UK, Dave served as a Parliamentary Press Gallery reporter after emigrating to New Zealand, working for the main newspaper in Wellington before beginning a freelance career. He also has extensive experience in corporate and government communications consultancy, having recently completed contracts with the New Zealand Ministry of Health. As an author, he co-wrote a best-selling non-fiction work on the development of shipping services across Cook Strait (between New Zealand’s two main islands), and authored the history of Shipping New Zealand, the professional organisation which represents shipping agents and shipping lines. Away from work, Dave was a semi-professional football player in his younger days. He now volunteers for an organisation which salvages wood that is destined for the landfill, and channels it back into the community for home DIY projects.
