Mexico''s transport and communications ministry has revised bidding rules for the Punta Colonet port project in Baja California state.
The new rules include the participation of potential bidders who are not officially part of the tender process, but will be consulted during it and will therefore contribute to the project's development.
The concession will involve constructing and operating a railway line, providing rail transport facilities and related services, and building a port in Bahía Colonet, SCT said in a release.
Interested companies have until November 3 to register as a potential bidder.
Under the new plan, the port will have initial capacity of 1m teu, as opposed to the 2m teu originally planned.
Four consortiums have already expressed interest in Punta Colonet, according to transport minister Juan Francisco Molinar Horcasitas.
