Queensland port potential
A new port will be built if approval is forthcoming for a 30 million-tonnes-a-year coal mine in Queenslands Galilee Basin. Hancock Prospecting has studied Abbot Point and Dudgeon Point, to the south of Hay Point, as possible locations.
Sydney Ports Corporation has confirmed 13 operators expressed interest by the 1 September deadline.
