The second tug in a series of four next generation Rotortugs on order with Cheoy Lee Shipyards Ltd has set sail for Hong Kong and its new owner, Elisabeth Ltd.
The Rotortug, designed by Robert Allan Ltd, is a new ART series, which Dutch company Rotortug says sets the new industry benchmark for the high performance tug market.
RT Endeavour combines high bollard pull over both working ends and strong steering force at all operational speeds. In addition, it’s said to offer improved fuel economy and operational flexibility, as well as operational safety.
A company spokesperson told GreenPort the tug results in reduced fuel consumption of around 25% depending on its operational profile, reduced maintenance cost and reduced NOx emission of around 40%, and reduced CO2 of around 25%.
