Santos port authority, Codesp, and representatives from the governing body of Brazilian ports, Antaq, recently came together as part of a working group to look into ways of re-modelling Santos to enable it to handle more cabotage containers.
They looked at the costs, administration and operational constraints involved in moving up to 4m teu.
As part of the discussion, the entry of new operators was also considered, as were the efficiencies to be obtained from Santos becoming a hub port.
