Month long strikes by dockworkers at the Chilean ports of Lirquén and Iquique have cost millions in lost cargo handling revenue.
The managing director of Lirquén port branded the strikes as illegal and pointed out that the financial impact for all concerned would be very damaging.
At Iquique, union members striking for better pay and conditions blockaded the entrance preventing its use for 35 days, resulting in lost revenue of at least $80m.
