Chile to make decision by March on mega port
Chile’s Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Paola Tapia, has said that the government should have reach a conclusion on a new mega port hub to serve the country’s central region by March 11.
Currently, plans are being developed with the best overall design sought.
“We are working to find the greatest possible integration as well as enhancing the port development of this central macro area,” she said.
It is thought that the new deepwater harbour will be close to existing ports at either San Antonio or Valparaíso, with local port authorities lobbying hard to ensure the greatest possible choice.
