Among the Supporters of Coastlink 2027, Logistics UK is one of the most proactive in supporting its members across a wide swathe of the logistics sector, including the short sea and intermodal port networks.
As one of the largest trade associations in the UK, it presents itself as an organisation representing all of logistics, with members from the road, rail, sea and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers whose businesses depend on the efficient movement of goods.
As a Coastlink 2027 Supporter, Logistics UK recognises that water freight is a crucial sector of UK logistics, and campaigns for improvements.
Among these are calls for improvements to multimodal port connections, specifically inland road and rail connections, and more effective government support to promote coastal shipping and inland waterways to reduce pressure on congested roads.
In addition, Logistics UK’s Chief Executive Ben Fletcher recently called for the development of a dedicated Northern Ireland freight and logistics strategy to enable the sector to play a greater role in driving growth and resilience.
