Hyster has introduced a new battery-powered empty container handler designed to accelerate port electrification and support decarbonisation goals.

The Hyster J6-7XD-EC3/4 uses integrated lithium-ion technology to deliver high-performance matching the strength of traditional diesel machines, but with zero tailpipe emissions.

“The shipping and containerisation industries have a continued focus on sustainability, so the new empty container handler provides a flexible solution for reducing carbon emissions, without compromising on throughput or dependability.”

Optimal efficiency

The new container handlers deliver clean power without sacrificing heavy-duty capability being capable of lifting of up to 7,000kg and stacking containers three or four high.

They run on a 350V system architecture, offering optimal energy efficiency and uptime while avoiding the complexity of higher-voltage alternatives.

Operators can benefit from opportunity and fast charging via CCS-standard plug-in systems, making for easy integration with existing electric fleets.

Hyster said that with a maintenance-free lithium-ion battery and simplified access to high-voltage components, the new battery container handler is engineered to reduce downtime and lower the total cost of ownership.

Designed for demanding terminal operations, the handlers also feature a durable chassis and an ergonomic cab with improved visibility and intuitive controls, enhancing both safety and productivity.
