A 3D digital mapping system is up and running at the largest freight and passenger port in Ireland.
GISGRO won the tender with Dublin Port Company for the new system. The contract is for five years and consists of digitising work together with GISGRO’s tailored port management solution.
‘’Ports work with several different types of data and having all that data at your fingertips in a visual cloud-based GIS platform creates a significant value for different stakeholders around the port,” explained Ville Mäkeläinen, chief business development officer at GISGRO.
“Ports typically have all the ingredients available for a digital twin, but the challenge is to find a platform which can handle and visualise various types of data.
“In GISGRO, the data migration process is really simple and polished, which means that Dublin Port Company’s account was up and running just in a couple of weeks,” he added.
Last year the port company published a tender for a 3D digital mapping system to ensure its asset management and operations planning benefitted from cutting-edge port technology. The port needed a complete system for managing the port’s GIS and asset data, which was held in several different data storages.
