Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) has partnered with Siemens to accelerate port digitisation and strengthen operational efficiency through automation and smart infrastructure.
The partners have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at PTP to launch pilot projects, capability development programmes and operational technology integration trials designed to improve port performance and equipment reliability.
“This partnership represents an important step in PTP’s digital transformation journey as we continue to explore innovative technologies that can enhance operational performance, resilience and long-term sustainability,” said Mark Hardiman, chief executive officer, PTP.
Smart asset tracking
The collaboration combines PTP’s large-scale operational expertise with Siemens’ experience in industrial digitalisation, port automation and smart infrastructure technologies.
It aims to support the adoption of AI, IoT and predictive maintenance solutions across the terminal environment.#
In addition, the collaboration is expected to strengthen predictive maintenance capabilities through integrated asset lifecycle management strategies and enhanced service-level support aimed at improving equipment uptime and operational reliability.
PTP and Siemens will implement targeted pilot initiatives including smart asset tracking and energy optimisation projects to evaluate scalability and return on investment in a live port infrastructure environment.
The partners will also focus on workforce development and technical training programmes to prepare employees for increasingly integrated hybrid human-automation operating environments.
This agreement reflects growing investment across the commercial ports and terminals sector in advanced digital technologies to improve operational performance, asset visibility and infrastructure resilience.
