Head of Short Sea Lines to Speak at Coastlink 2025

CMA CGM vessel

CMA CGM continues to make strategic moves to enhance its short sea capabilities across Europe, with Bilbao playing a central role in the company’s regional development.

In June 2024, CMA CGM introduced key upgrades to its North West UK (NWUK) and South Central UK (SCUK) services, significantly improving connectivity between Spain, Ireland, the UK, and the Netherlands. These enhancements are part of the group’s long-term vision to reinforce its intra-European network and drive efficiency across its short sea operations.

Bilbao stands out as a crucial hub in this network. In 2023, CMA CGM secured a 38% indirect stake in CSP Iberian Bilbao Terminal, underlining its commitment to developing strategic port infrastructure across the Mediterranean. The port serves as a vital link between Northern Spain and the main gateways of Northern Europe and has become a cornerstone for sustainable, short-distance maritime transport within the Iberian Peninsula and beyond.

Representing CMA CGM at Coastlink 2025 will be Julien Dageurre, Vice President of Short Sea Lines – Intra North Europe. With nearly two decades of global experience—including leadership roles in Russia, South Africa, Senegal, and the UAE—Julien now oversees CMA CGM’s short sea operations in Europe.

Julien will join an expert shipper panel alongside representatives from IKEA, Tailwind Shipping Lines, and Finnlines, to explore the future of green logistics and the evolution of sustainable multimodal supply chains.

Coastlink 2025 will take place on 29–30 April 2025, hosted by the Bilbao Port Authority
