Digital railcar handling boost

Evos is using a digital connection with Hamburg Port Authority which in effect does away with manual data entry and transfer by employees, speeding up movements and lowering the risk of human error.

The HPA and the terminal management system OpenTAS Blue Edition have been connected using a solution developed and implemented by Implico, a specialist for tank terminal software solutions.

Advanced planning

The software enables the terminal operators to receive all information about incoming freight trains in advance.

Data is imported into the system via an interface and the unloading order is generated automatically.

To further digitalise the remaining safety check of the railcars, Evos has planned the introduction of additional mobile devices in future.

These handhelds will be integrated into the terminal management system allowing the terminal crew to check the railcars digitally including the sequence of the wagons and the visual security inspection via checklist.

Every year thousands of railcars are handled at the Evos terminal in the Port of Hamburg laden which transport various hydrocarbon products from different refineries and terminals.

Going digital should help Evos to increase the efficiency of its operations considerably.
