Ports are under growing pressure to prove, not just promise, environmental performance - water quality sits at the centre of that challenge.
At this year’s GreenPort Congress a main topic for discussion will be on everything from PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) and sediment contamination, to flood risk and climate-driven disruption.
The 2026 Congress, this year hosted by Portsmouth International Port from 7 to 9 October 2026, the focus will not just be on theory, but on what ports are actually doing, what’s working and where projects are falling short.
Across three focused themes, Ingrid Lambert, Green Ports and Climate Resilience Consultant, Haskoning, will discuss the detail behind real operational decisions.
“Climate risk assessments are now being translated into investment-relevant metrics that boards can act on, shifting adaptation from theory to funded strategy,” she says.

- Monitoring, measurement & environmental intelligence - How ports are using real-time data and sensor technologies to move from passive monitoring to active intervention and what that costs to implement.
- Pollution, sediment & risk management - Lessons from ports dealing with contaminated sediments, PFAS, and dredging constraints, including how risk is being managed in practice.
- Climate resilience, water scarcity & adaptation - How climate risk assessments are being translated into investment decisions and where resilience planning is already influencing port strategy.
Her talk will help delegates understand how other ports are managing water quality under regulatory and operational pressure, see how environmental data is being used to justify investment decision and learn what’s working and what isn’t in pollution and sediment management.
She will give practical approaches to climate adaptation and resilience planning with the aim of helping ports, regulators and solution providers shaping how water challenges are being handled today.
