The Sea Trophy system is a submersible oil recover pump which was developed primarily to prevent oil spill disasters. When a tanker runs aground, the small spindle pump can empty the fuel tanks in very little time.

It can also be used by shippers when the wrong fuel oil is loaded on-board a vessel. Having the Sea Trophy already either on-board or in the harbour can rectify the problem quickly saving costs.

Van Heck has established a strong market position and earned a particularly good name in the dredging, offshore, civil engineering and salvaging sectors. It’s often called in to manage temporary redirections and disasters and to implement emergency solutions with regards to flooding.

One example of which could be the supply of pumps for water injection in dredging where water is pumped down to the waterbed, where a water jet is used to loosen the sand on the bed. The sand rises as a result and is then transported away by the current.

The Green Award aims to motivate ship owners and managers to invest in the improvements on board and ashore and serves as a reliable corporate social responsibility and environmental risk reduction tool for shipping companies and ports.

Its assessment criteria covers environmental, quality and safety issues and performance of management and the crew. It has over 50 ports and other maritime related member organisations which provide discounts to fellow certified members.
