Lyttelton figures buoyed by container growth

New Zealands Lyttelton Port Co has recorded a near 10% growth in revenue over the first six months of its 2007/08 financial year.

According to official figures, revenue is up to NZ$40.6m (US$32.3m) while net profit after taxation has increased 25.8% to NZ$4.9m (US$3.9m). Earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation for the first half of the year rose 19.2% to NZ$14.7m (US$11.7m).

“Once again our container volumes have grown, increasing by an impressive 17% to 126,200 teu,” said chief executive Peter Davie. “We have concentrated significant resources and investment in upgrading and maximising potential in the container terminal over recent years and this investment is paying off.”
