Navis widens supply chain optimisation focus
Navis is targeting a bigger share of the whole supply chain in its bid to make global trade smarter, safer and more sustainable for everyone.
Launching its new strategy at Navis World taking place in San Francisco this week, president Benoit de la Tour stressed the importance of XVELA, Navis’ cloud-based tool that enables real time sharing of information between shipping partners.
“Our goal is to provide visibility to the entire supply chain,” said Mr de la Tour. “There’s a lot we can have an impact on with better technology.”
Drawing parallels with the airline industry, he said that airlines have become experts at collecting and analysing data. Recording $100bn in profits over the last six years, their turnaround came through their ability to use data to better forecast capacity against demand.
“Our industry has not yet been touched deeply with digitalisation,” said Mr de la Tour. “I believe in technology and with everything that is happening in Silicon Valley and elsewhere we have a huge opportunity to improve our industry and make it more collaborative.”
