A terminal operator in Mexico has ordered a new eco-efficient crane for operations at the Port of Veracruz on the Gulf of Mexico.
The order for the Konecranes Gottwald Generation 6 Mobile Harbour Crane is the first such order for Corporación Integral de Comercio Exterior (Grupo CICE) but will be their tenth Konecranes Gottwald mobile harbour crane over the past 30 years.
Leoncio Perez, chief executive at Grupo CICE said the terminal was expecting the size of vessels calling at Mexico’s largest port to increase in the coming years. “We need to invest in a larger crane,” he said. “We have operated nine Konecranes Gottwald Mobile Harbour Cranes over the last 20 years, and have been very satisfied with their performance and reliability.
“This new Generation 6 crane, which will be crane number ten, promises even more handling capacity and service life,” he added.
The Konecranes Gottwald ESP.9 Mobile Harbour Crane has a working radius of up to 61 metres and a lifting capacity of 125 tonnes. It features a tower extension for reaching higher container stacks on deck and a better view of the vessels and working environment. It provides a strong lifting capacity curve for high handling performance and an A7 classification in container handling.
