Following the completion of the port expansion at Fredericia Harbour in Denmark, the new company Fredericia Container Terminal is now operational.
The company is majority-owned by Fredericia Shipping, with APM Terminals and ADP as minority shareholders. The partners say they share a common ambition to drive growth in container volumes and strengthen Fredericia Harbour’s position as a key logistics hub in western Denmark.
“With our investment in the port expansion and the securing of capacity to meet the rising container growth, which has been consistent in recent years, we are now even better prepared to respond to the current trend – shipping lines are seeking ports located close to the cargo’s final destination,” explained Rune D. Rasmussen, chief executive of ADP.
“Together, Fredericia Shipping, APM Terminals and ADP can create the best operational framework for the expected growth in container volumes in western Denmark.”
As part of the expansion, ADP has invested a three-digit million DKK amount to enhance the harbour’s infrastructure. With over 150,000 square metres of container space and a 450-metre deep-water quay, the new terminal is well equipped to handle the region’s growing logistics demands.
An additional 50,000 square metres of space at Fredericia Shipping’s Taulov terminal further supports operations, offering short transit distances to final destinations across southern Denmark.
“APM Terminals can support Fredericia Container Terminal in the operation and development of an independent terminal with our international experience in operational excellence and safety,” commented Lars Vang, head of Joint Ventures and Strategic Partnerships at APM Terminals.
