TTI Algeciras has officially submitted its expansion project for development on Phase B of Isla Verde Exterior to the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA).
The €150 million investment will cover 160,000 sqm and boost the terminal’s handling capacity by 500,000 teu to a total of 2.1 million teu annually.

This major step will also extend TTI Algeciras’ concession period until 2065, reinforcing the terminal’s long-term role in one of Europe’s most strategic maritime corridors.
“This expansion is the natural evolution of more than a decade of steady growth with operational and commercial excellence,” said Alonso Luque, chief executive of TTI Algeciras.
“The project not only adds much-needed physical capacity but also positions us to take on new service opportunities and larger vessels, while maintaining the flexibility and efficiency that have defined our terminal from the beginning.”
Since its launch in 2010, TTI Algeciras has handled nearly 18 million teu, contributing significantly to the Port of Algeciras’s status as a key logistics hub for southern Europe and Spain’s import-export flows.
Gerardo Landaluce, chair of the APBA, welcomed the development. “TTI Algeciras has played a key role in boosting the international standing of the port,” he said.
“Its common-user model, open to multiple shipping lines and alliances, has helped position Algeciras as a global logistics platform.
“This expansion fits fully into our strategic roadmap to develop sustainable, resilient, and high-capacity maritime infrastructure in the Strait of Gibraltar.”
TTI Algeciras is jointly owned by South Korea’s HMM and the CMA CGM Group, and regularly handles some of the world’s largest container ships, including the HMM Algeciras and CMA CGM Jacques Saadé.
