Ports Australia backs best practice

Ports Australia has advocated that state governments adopt a “best practice” to protect valuable port land from possible encroachment by other urban developments.

The lobby group has come forward with its plan in a submission to Infrastructure Australia’s draft National Ports Strategy.

Ports Australia chief executive David Anderson said effective planning was essential to prevent land-use conflicts, such as when apartments are built close to ports and residents then complain about the effects of port operations.
