PrimePort snares Southern Star

Maersk has recently added PrimePort Timaru as a permanent weekly call on its Southern Star schedule.

The revised service rotation of Brisbane-Sydney-Tauranga-Napier-Lyttelton-Timaru-Port Chalmers-Tanjung Pelepas-Singapore was introduced following a successful trail of PrimePort’s largest-ever caller – the 73,899-GT and 286.5m Rio de Janeiro.

Recent PrimePort investments – such as a NZ$2.5m widening of its inner breakwater entrance from 90m to 140m – proved pivotal to it securing the call, according to Maersk Oceania area product manager Greg Paradine.

PrimePort has additionally been added to the weekly Maersk Oceania Americas (OC1) schedule, which caters for Americas, North Asia and trans-Tasman cargo.
