Circle Group, the Italy-based digital logistics specialist, has won a new deal to upgrade and automate gate operations at a multipurpose terminal in a Mediterranean port, extending its footprint in port digitalisation.
The agreement, signed with a leading national logistics operator, covers the technological upgrade of two terminal lanes equipped with remote-management totems. Valued at around €250,000, the project focuses on automating gate processes and improving integration between terminal systems and the wider logistics ecosystem.
“This represents further recognition of the robustness of our solutions and their ability to address the concrete needs of terminal operators,” said Luca Abatello, chairman and chief executive of Circle Group, adding that the project aligns with European interoperability requirements and Circle’s ‘Connect 4 Agile Growth’ industrial plan.
At the core of the project is the deployment of Circle Group’s Gate Operating System, which will automate the reading of front and rear vehicle licence plates as well as container identification codes.
The solution will be delivered by Circle Group through its eXyond business unit, in collaboration with Aitek, and is based on the eXyond GOS and MILOS platforms. According to the company, the aim is to support the terminal’s digital evolution by strengthening operational efficiency, automation and interoperability with port and logistics partners.
The project also includes the adoption of the MILOS Transport Federative Platform, designed to enable structured and secure data exchange between terminals, logistics operators and external systems. This should provide greater end-to-end visibility and improved handling of operational exceptions.
