Shippers council takes lead on big ships

The move follows mounting concern New Zealand’s global competitiveness risks being undermined if the country does not unite to ensure containerships in the 7000 teu range can be efficiently handled within three to five years.Shippers’ Council chairperson Greg Steed says maximising the scales of economy on offer from larger vessels could deliver “billions of dollars in productivity improvements to the New Zealand economy”.
