Environment Advisor, Port of Dover

Ben Crake (BScHons) is one of the Environment Advisors for the Port, and has been at the port for 2.5 years. He has maintained the Port’s environmental monitoring programme, produced the Port’s third climate change adaptation report, applies for, and ensures compliance with environmental permits and licences and is responsible for the Port’s waste management and compliance. He maintains the Ports carbon management system and has helped produce the Port’s SECR (Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting). He is currently gathering data on the Port’s scope 3 emissions inventory in preparation for the Port’s 2030 net zero target and integration with a new automated API platform. He works collaboratively with wider stakeholders in the local environment to gather data and lobby for cleaning of local freshwater bodies that feed into the harbour.
