Gantry cranes

PSA Halifax will be taking delivery of the cranes in early 2023 at its Atlantic Hub terminal on Canada’s east coast.

The new cranes will enable enhanced outreach capable of spanning the largest vessels now regularly calling at the terminal and will join the main berth’s existing five Super Post-Panamax units.

“As the first port of call on North America’s east coast for ships transiting the Atlantic from Europe and South Asia, PSA Halifax offers an uncongested gateway for importers in Canada and the United States to connect directly with Chicago, Toronto, Detroit, Montreal and Moncton using our on-dock rail facility,” said Jan Van Mossevelde, chief executive, PSA Halifax.

“The new cranes will ensure that our highly efficient low impact through-port container movements are matched at the waterfront by equipment capable of handling the behemoth vessels regularly calling at the terminal.”

PSA Halifax staff and workforce support regular weekly services for MSC, Maersk Line, Ocean Alliance (CMA CGM, Evergreen, Cosco Shipping, and OOCL), Zim Integrated Shipping, MSC, Tropical Shipping, Eimskip, Melfi Marine and a weekly domestic service to Newfoundland with Oceanex.
