Life extension for PSA Mersin gantries
Over the past few years, Portunus Port Spares & Services has built a good reputation and gained experience in refurbishing and modernising cranes.
The Turkish company also provides spare parts to the container industry.
PSA Mersin commissioned Portunus to upgrade and retrofit three of its STS cranes with the latest technology. Onder Turker of Portunus says: “Port throughput varies from port to port but wherever cargo is handled, speed, reliability and efficiency are paramount.”
PSA Mersin is one of the largest container ports in Turkey. The crane life extension project is aimed at achieving greater productivity, shorter cycle times, increased safety, better ergonomics, and greater performance and reliability.
It will also enable PSA Mersin to be in compliance with safety legislations while at the same time reducing operational and maintenance costs.
The upgrade work featured complex and diverse requirements, and was tested and certified by Lloyds Turkey on completion.
