Ministerial approval for Oz floating port

Australia’s Federal Minister for Transport and Infrastructure, Anthony Albanese, has suggested a ‘floating port’ could be the answer for the country’s remote offshore resource project developments.

Energy projects are proliferating in Australia and port resources for the project industry are already stretched.

Mr Albanese has supported the deployment of a large-scale floating logistics facility or Field Support Hub (FiSH) to provide 34,000 sq metres of lay down area, customs and quarantine facilities, accommodation for 200 people and multiple shipping berths.

The minister has granted the FiSH project Major Project Facilitation status, ensuring direct assistance from government agencies.
