AI SOFTWARE APPLIED IN LEIXOES
Use of artificial intelligence in the Port of Leixões has been successfully tested. The Administration of Douro Ports Leixões and Viana do Castelo, S.A. (APDL) has confirmed the results after partnering with ALLREAD Machine Learning Technologies (ALLREAD) along with the Centre for Computer Vision of Catalonia and The Collider Program.
The installation of the ALLREAD software is being used to undertake reading of BIC and tank containers at different access points to the port area. The software processes the images and video playback with a combination of text and codes, with an accuracy rating of up to 90 per cent.
The benefit of this set-up is that the software is able to link into cameras already installed at specific access points, thereby avoiding the costs of hardware and implementation needed if more traditional optical character recognition (OCR) is used.
