Mitsui wins large crane order for Vietnamese terminal
Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding has won a deal with the Port of Haiphong Joint Stock Company (CHP) for six ship-to-shore gantry cranes and 24 rubber-tyred gantry cranes.
The six Mitsui-Paceco Portainers and 24 Mitsui-Paceco Transtainers will be put to use at CHP’s container terminal currently under construction in Hao Phong City in northern Vietnam. The deal is one of the largest ever for both CHP and Mitsui E&S in the Vietnam market.
The Portainer has a 65 metre outreach and will be one of the largest in use in the Hai Phong area. Together with the environmentally-friendly electric Transtainer it is expected to significantly enhance CHP’s cargo handling capacity.
Mitsui E&S has previously delivered Portainers and Transtainers to CHP in 2001 and 2007 respectively, as part of the Japanese government’s Official Development Assistance (ODA).
