New cranes for Melbourne’s intermodal terminal

Kalmar is to supply six electric reachstackers and two electric empty container handlers for what will be Australia’s largest intermodal terminal

The equipment will be deployed at ITC’s Somerton Intermodal Terminal, a multipurpose terminal currently being constructed in Melbourne, Victoria.

Once completed, the Somerton Intermodal Terminal will be the largest intermodal terminal ever built in Australia, with a future capacity to process up to one million-plus teu each year.
